Sat 12th April - Northampton parkrun
Please join us in venturing into Northampton town to run Northampton parkrun in April. Come along an experience DRR's purple army on tour on a Saturday morning. Less than 30 minutes drive from Daventry, hopefully we can get large numbers along for an enjoyable morning of running and more importantly breakfast afterwards .The more people that come along, the better the atmosphere and encouragement we can offer to not only fellow members but also all parkrunners that attend.
The run takes place on the Racecourse in central Northampton.
Parking: NN1 4LG. Follow AA signage from M1 junctions 15, 15a and 16. Allow time for parking on street and walking 5-10 mins, and for those intending to use the car park - please keep to the marked parking bay, don't double park, park on the grass, straddle a footpath or block the access for emergency vehicles. Please be considerate to the local residents and other road users.
Toilets: There are toilets in the Football Association building, located next to the car park, between the start and finish. These open before parkrun at around 8.30am. Please note that the event team are not responsible for opening the toilets and there may be some events where they are closed.
If you have a club shirt please wear this, and we will do a group photo at 8.45am, near the start line.
As normal we will cheer all club members home, and if you're still energetic after your run, it would be nice to run back and support others.
Course Description: The start is positioned behind the Pavilion Carpark, Kettering Road, adjacent to the basketball and tennis courts. The course follows the perimeter tarmac paths of the park and consists of two laps going in an anti-clockwise direction. The first lap will consist of almost a full loop of the park. The second lap will turn left at the start, consisting of a shorter lap. The finish is 80m past the start and will head in a 120 degree angle finishing on the grass. This will be marked by a finishing funnel.
Surface: 100% Tarmac hard path.
Food after: Change of location - We will meet at The Cordwainer - J D Wetherspoon The Old Bakehouse The Ridings, Northampton NN1 2AQ, for around 10:30am, to allow everyone to complete the run, cheer others in, get back to where they parked their cars, and then drive (10 mins) to the venue. There is parking at The Ridings Car Park St Giles' St, Abington St, Northampton. This car park may be full, but normally a space comes every couple of minutes, and two hours are free on a Saturday morning. Alternatively there are other car parks close by.
