Saturday 22nd August - Dudley parkrun
Course Description
The course starts with two laps of the athletics track, after which you will follow the signs and marshal’s out of the stadium and onto the park where you will run through the Green gym equipment and out towards the canal towpath. After following the path running alongside the astro turf football pitch you will continue straight, taking the path up onto the canal.
Once at the top of the path you will be directed right by a Marshall and run along the Stourbridge canal for three quarters of a mile, taking in the industrial factories to the left and right before turning right onto Foots Hole grassland, where you will run for just over 1 mile over varying trail and gravel paths as well running across the old freight railway.
Once through Foots Hole Grassland you will be back on the Stourbridge canal where you will be directed left by a Marshall back onto the left hand track which takes you back alongside the astro Turf and back into the stadium.
The course will finish with two laps of the track, with finishing runners filtered to the right hand side of the track after the final 100m sprint finish!
Unfortunately dogs are not allowed at this event.
Due to some narrow gated sections the course may not be suitable for single buggies and we are not able to allow double width buggies - please contact the team in advance for further advice on the course.
Facilities
The Dell Stadium is the firmly established council's premier outdoor sports venue. It boasts a range of facilities that can accommodate local and regional events.
Whilst there is a car park on site, please do not park on it, the nearest alternate car parks are at the Fenns Pool warden's office or The Brockmoor Community Centre, both a short walk away on the Pensnett Road. There is additional overspill car parking on Bryce Road.
Further details
If you have a club shirt please wear this, and we will do a group photo at 8.45am, near the start line, as normal we will cheer all club members home, and if your still energetic after your run, it would be nice to run back and support others.
Due to the extra distance of this months parkrun we think it would be a good idea to share lifts as much as possible so once people have booked on I will set up a Whatsapp group so we can organize transportation.
Many attendees will go for breakfast afterwards, for those who are coming along we will be going to The Waterfront Inn JD Wetherspoons, 6–7 Waterfront East, Level Street, Brierley Hill, West Midlands, DY5 1XG which is about a 10 drive from the venue.
Many thanks,
JB
